In the movie "Knowing", the earth is scorched by a giant solar flare, destroying human life on earth. Is such a giant solar flare possible? In fact, there have been some major solar flares in recent years. The largest recent solar flare was on Nov. 4 2003, an X28+, and a week before that there was an X17.2 solar flare on Oct. 31 2003. See this page on the prophecy significance of these solar flares in 2003. And a much larger solar flare is possible.
This web site is about prophecies, in particular Biblical prophecies of the Bible's Book of Revelation, and the prophecies of French prophet Nostradamus from the 1500s. So do any of these prophecies talk about a giant solar flare scorching earth at some time in the future?
The Bible's Book of Revelation has prophecies of future world events, in particular disastrous world events during the future End Times period. Note that there is a passage in the Bible's Book of Revelation which appears to imply an increase in solar activity which scorches the earth with great heat:
16:8,9, King James version: "And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat..."
And Isaiah 30:26 in the Old Testament may also be describing a giant solar flare with a 7 times increase in sun intensity:
"Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound."
Also, a prophecy of French prophet Nostradamus from the 1500s may predict a solar flare scorching earth in the future:
Nostradamus 5-98:
"At 48 degrees, Cancer ending, there is great dryness,
Fish in the seas and rivers are boiled by the heat.
Bearn and Bigorre see chaos from fire from the sky."
So could an increase in the sun's intensity actually cook the earth? Yes, that is possible, since it is thought that the sun's energy output varies, and at times it has decreased. Possibly a great solar storm might cause a temporary increase in the sun's energy output, actually roasting the earth for a while. And there was a giant solar flare on Oct. 28, 2003, the fourth largest ever recorded, and on November 4 2003 the largest ever seen. We will have to see if this indicates more giant solar flares to come in 2009-2012, perhaps the sun is entering a period of increased solar activity. On the Putin page I also discuss how a 7 year time period associated with the Antichrist began on Nov. 4 2003, with the largest flare in history and Putin the Antichrist in Rome.
Revelation 13:13 "And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,"
(sounds like a solar flare?)
And see this page on Paul LaViolette's galactic superwave theory, that proposes that the earth has been scorched by giant solar flares in the past, caused by a galactic core explosion pushing cosmic dust into the sun, causing giant solar flares.
But in 2008-2009, there has been a very low number of sunspots, a less strong solar wind, and the sun is slightly dimmer. Enough so that scientists are not sure what is going on with the sun. So the sun appears to have departed from its usual cycle. Reference: on the NASA web site: Science@NASA, 5-29-2009, New Solar Cycle Prediction.
(Could it be possible that a Black Hole created by nuclear physics experiments on earth has gone into the sun?)
Also: in April-May 2009, there were 3 crop circles in the United Kingdom, that may be predicting a giant solar flare, including an unusual jellyfish-shape crop circle that may represent a solar flare hitting earth. Could it be that something unusual is going on in the sun, so that it will be quieter and dimmer for a while, and then erupt in a giant solar flare?
